Jake Collins had everything he ever wanted: a brilliant mind, a loyal partner, and a beautiful wife. He was a detective who loved solving puzzles and mysteries, and he was good at it. He and his wife, Mia Lee, who was also his partner, worked on many high-profile cases together, using their skills and chemistry to catch criminals and save lives.

But their happiness was destroyed when they encountered Cypher, a twisted and ruthless killer who used bombs, traps, and riddles to murder his victims. He taunted the police and the public with his cryptic messages, claiming that he was playing a game with them. Jake and Mia were determined to stop him and bring him to justice.

They tracked him down to an abandoned warehouse, where they confronted him in a deadly showdown. They wounded him and disarmed him, but they didn’t notice the small device that he had attached to his chest. It was a trigger that activated a bomb when his heart stopped beating.

He quit his job, moved to a secluded cabin in the woods, and drowned his sorrows in alcohol and drugs.

But Cypher is not done with him yet. Three years later, Jake’s former captain, Frank, shows up at his door with a desperate plea: Cypher is back, and he’s targeting their old colleagues. Frank begs Jake to come back and help him catch the killer once and for all. Jake is reluctant, but he can’t deny the urge to avenge Mia’s death and end his own torment.
